Preparing for a career in entrepreneurship may not sound as daunting as working toward a medical degree, but the concepts are still the same; preparation, study, learning by trial and error (although not well accepted in the medical field), perseverance, and overcoming trials. But when it comes to costs in many ways being an entrepreneur in a field that doesn't require as much money up front, can be a lot less financially stressful than the cost of medical school.
many entrepreneurs in the past have been up against a wall, in the realms of having a financial burden (or lack of money) to start up a business. Others have dealt with discrimination which held them back from their true earning potential. I was particular impressed by the story of Cory Bell from this week's videos. He worked his way up to entrepreneurship through various companies and gained great insights from those jobs. One thing he said that confused me at first (and was the subject of one of the quiz questions this week), was his statement "the riches place on earth are graveyards". I get what he is saying though about people who may have shown the world great solutions to problems and new ideas that never happened, and these people died. As a Latter-Day Saint that is one of my biggest fears: that I never reach my true potential in this earth life.
I feel inspired though about my work ethic and all the knowledge that I do possess. Whenever I lament about not being as smart as so many others, I can always tell myself, "but you're smarter than you were 10 years ago and even 2 years ago! One more thing I found interesting in this week's studies was the article called "Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness". I found it fascinating with the line"So what is the secret to happiness? The secret is that most of us are already quite happy". Well, I guess when things are said and done, even though I don't have absolutely everything I want, I still have everything I need. That I fee is the root to happiness. One thing that article clearly points out: No amount of money or success can bring true happiness.
